Medford Boarding Kennel

About the Kennel

Alpha Valley Boarding Kennel has been serving the community for more than 30 years.

Located in Phoenix, Oregon less than two miles from exit 24 on i5, Alpha Valley Boarding Kennel serves clients and their adorable pets from all over Southern Oregon, including Medford, Ashland, Talent, and beyond. Originally founded in the 1980s under the name Alpha Gay Kennels, the facility has been providing care for dogs, cats, and other animals for decades.

Our facilities include climate controlled individual dog runs with access to both an indoor and outdoor portion of the run for each dog.

Each evening dogs are partitioned into the indoor portion of their individual kennel to provide protection from the elements. During the day they are allowed full access to the outside portion so they never feel cooped up! Of course, special arrangements can be made if an indoor/outdoor run isn’t suitable for your dog.

We have 35 small dogs runs(3x5 on the inside, 3x12 on the outside) and 40 big dog runs(4x6 on the inside, 4x15 on the outside).

Our cattery is located in a secure building separate from our dog kennels, and can safely house up to 20 cats within individual indoor/outdoor runs. Indoor-only options are also available if exposure to the outdoors isn’t suitable for your cat due to age, medical conditions, or other special needs.

We also care for birds, reptiles, and other small pets upon request. If you’re wondering if Alpha Valley is a good fit to care for your exotic pet, just give us a call or contact us online—we would be happy to discuss it with you.

Improved Safety with Live-In Staffing

Alpha Valley Boarding Kennel features multiple staff members living onsite, providing increased safety and security for your pets—even after hours. Many boarding kennels are unstaffed at night, but Alpha Valley is uniquely suited for onsite caretakers due to the existence of multiple residences on the property. Each evening your pets are given one final bedtime check by our staff before the dogs are secured indoors and the lights go out.

About the owner

Alpha Valley Boarding Kennel is the product of the hard work of the owner and her devoted team.

The kennel had already been serving the community for decades when Kyrstin got her first job there at the age of 16. At the time the facility was called Alpha Gay Kennels, and it was here that she spent five years learning about quality of care and managing behavior of dogs, cats, and other animals.

Years later, Kyrstin graduated from Southern Oregon University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and entered the workforce. After trying many fields, she found that she missed being with dogs and other animals more then anything. She realized that her true passion is caring and providing for our furry and feathered friends. She knew that pursuing a career in animal care would make her happy and allow her to provide a much needed service to her communities.

When she was ready, she approached the previous owners Tamara and Perry Dudley and offered to purchase the kennel. After 3o+ years in business they were ready to retire and they knew that she would continue their tradition of impeccable care for dogs and cats. In 2017, Kyrstin purchased the kennel and began operating it under the name Alpha Valley Boarding Kennel.

Today Kyrstin and her team work to uphold the tradition of impeccable and specialized care for dogs, cats and other animals of all ages, sizes and levels of need.
